So I’ve been working with Diigo for a while now, and have already written about it on Life in Lists. My usage fell off for a while, but when I started doing a lot of research again for my day job I returned to Diigo to see if it was up to the task. I have a feeling I am going to write more in future posts about the perfect professional research tool, so I’ll focus specifically on Diigo for this post.
I have seen An Inconvenient Truth, and I greatly appreciate the message that Al Gore is promoting, but I could not help but feel a little bit odd about the film. Some of his presentations seemed forced, and to a certain extent he seemed void of any emotion. Not having seen much video of Al Gore before, I finished the movie having learned quite a bit, but still had an uneasy feeling about Al Gore’s personality.
Then a few weeks later my boss at work started holding viewings of video clips from a conference he had been attending on an annual basis. This conference was TED (Technology, entertainment, and design), an annual conference that brings together the world’s most fascinating thinkers and challenges them to give the talk of their lives.
Anyway, check out the site, it’s incredible. Here’s a talk by Al Gore that moved me because it seems more personal, candid, and heartfelt.
Maybe it was because he was in a room full of his peers and he could let down his guard, but I quite enjoyed this speech and, for me, it really changed the way I perceive his film, An Inconvenient Truth, for the better.
My name is Evan Bartlett, and I'm all about connecting people and finding better ways to do things. Every day life should be approached with the eye of an entreprenuer, so here's where I'll hash out my ideas on the intersection of sales, community, and product!
By day I'm working on a betaworks project called Allify, making tools for mobile app developers.
On the side I've just launched an iphone app called Matchbook with my buddy Jason. Its a new easy way to remember the restaurants, bars, and shops people recommend to you.
